About Me

Exploring the Blue Stem Trail in Birds Hill Park, November 2020

I grew up in south Winnipeg and spent much of my time exploring the bushes and banks of the Seine River near my home. I have always loved the outdoors and it has become my passion over the last decade or so.

I worked as a teacher for 14 years, but have many other interests, including photography, writing, and making up-cycled items and refinishing old furniture. I am an avid traveler and have been to over 90 countries in six different continents.

After returning to Winnipeg from a year of travels in 2016, I decided that I wasn’t doing my own city the justice it deserved and challenged myself to visit all the 1300+ Winnipeg parks and open spaces either on foot or by bike. I completed this task in just under a year in March of 2018, and as far as I know, I am the only person to have ever done this!

In 2020, I decided to reduce my teaching hours in order to pursue my other passions, and the idea for ‘Peg City Parks was born! I started by creating scavenger hunts for different Winnipeg parks, trails, and neighbourhoods. Eventually, I decided to create a ‘Peg City Parks book that included ten scavenger hunts, feature image spreads of iconic aspects of Winnipeg, parks trivia, and more. The book will be officially released in May 2026.

Having resigned from my teaching position in 2022, I am now living a nomadic lifestyle with my partner, Kyle. We spend winters abroad and summers back home in Winnipeg. In early 2023, I also launched a website called Successfully Sustainable that aims to inspire and help others live a more sustainable lifestyle.

Thanks for joining me on this journey!
