How do the scavenger hunts work?

Along with some other aspects, each ‘Peg City Parks scavenger hunt will come with a set of instructions that provide you with goals/tasks to complete in the park or area. Examples may be to find a certain (permanent) feature of the park, or to take a fun photo in a specific spot, etc.

What other “aspects” do the scavenger hunts include?

Each hunt contains:

• An introduction to the park or area
• My personal connection to the park
• Park amenities (if applicable)
• The method of transport you may choose to complete the hunt
• Where to start and end your hunt
• The hunt distance
• Other notes if needed 
• A set of instructions/goals/tasks to complete
• Local recommendations for dining or shopping in the area

How do I know if I should buy the eBook or the physical book?

Here is some info to help you decide:

Both books contain 10 park/neighbourhood scavenger hunts, one “save it for a rainy day” hunt, Winnipeg parks trivia, full colour feature pages of iconic aspects of Winnipeg, and parks resources. The physical book will ALSO contain a “Keep the Kids Busy” hunt, space to take notes on your hunts, and $80+ worth of coupons for local shops and restaurants.

The ebook is $19.99, and the physical book will cost you a little more at $32.99 ($37.99 with shipping when bought online).

Can I purchase individual scavenger hunts rather than the whole book?

Yes! Head over to the shop on our sister site Successfully Sustainable, and you will be able to choose from our fifteen available scavenger hunts for $7.00 each.

Are the scavenger hunts family and kid-friendly?

Absolutely! The only potential limiting factor may be the distance that is required to complete the entire hunt, but you can always save what you missed for another day. The distance required to complete the hunts range from approximately 3 kilometres, up to 9 kilometres.

Do I need to be super fit to complete the scavenger hunts?

Nope. All of the hunts are on fairly friendly and flat terrain (this is Winnipeg after all!) And as previously mentioned, you can choose to leave part of the hunt for another day if the distance is a barrier. Think of it simply as a lovely stroll in the park! (Of course, if you want to challenge yourself, you’re more than welcome to run!)
